On April 11, 2026, the Pittsburgh Chinese School was invited to participate in Cranberry Township’s annual celebration of community and culture (Cranfest), held at the Cranberry Municipal Center (2525 Rochester Road). Through a variety of interactive activities and cultural displays, the school vividly ներկայացed the unique charm of traditional Chinese culture to the local community.
According to the organizers, Cranfest is an annual signature community event in Cranberry Township, running from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The festival highlights community and cultural diversity, featuring live performances, multicultural exhibits, and international food experiences, and draws a large number of local residents each year.
At the event, the Pittsburgh Chinese School’s booth attracted strong interest and steady crowds. Volunteers demonstrated traditional Chinese sugar painting, a folk art that uses melted sugar to create intricate designs, captivating families and encouraging participation. During the interactive sessions, children had the opportunity to try the craft themselves under guidance, gaining a hands-on appreciation of traditional artistry.
In addition, the booth displayed Chinese knots, paper-cutting art, and various culturally symbolic handicrafts, accompanied by detailed explanations. Visitors not only enjoyed the exhibits but also gained deeper insight into the meanings and traditions behind them. The atmosphere at the booth was lively and engaging throughout the event.
As an important Chinese language education institution in the greater Pittsburgh area, the Pittsburgh Chinese School has long been dedicated to promoting Chinese language learning and cultural heritage. Through participation in this event, the school further strengthened its connection with the community, helping more people experience and understand the Chinese language and culture while fostering cross-cultural understanding and exchange.
