Westinghouse
supports ‘Rebuild-A-School Campaign (RASC)’
On June 5, 2008, Westinghouse
Electric Company presented $20,195 donation from
its employees to Pittsburgh Chinese School (PCS)
for the "Rebuild-A-School-Campaign" (RASC).
On behalf of the company and
employees, Jim Fici, Sr. Vice President of
customer relations and sales, presented the
donation to the representatives from PCS and
CAST-P during a lunch meeting at Westinghouse's
headquarter located in
Monroeville, PA.
He expressed their deep sympathy to the
earthquake victims and willingness to help the
children to get back to their normal life soon.
In the letter of thanks to
Westinghouse, PCS stated, "We are very grateful
to Westinghouse for supporting the RASC
fundraising activity…..we greatly appreciate
your generosity, your love and care for the
victims affected by the earthquake in China, and
most importantly, your commitment to help
rebuild the educational environment for the
children in the disaster area."
The fundraising event organized by
employees was started in Monroeville
facility and quickly spread to several other
Westinghouse facilities nearby. The major
employee volunteers, Ching Yu, Hang "Andrew"
Chen, Ruiqi (Ricky) Ma, Baocheng Zhang, Yiu Law,
Lin Paul Qun, Feiyun Zhao and Hang Zhou,
attended the meeting. One of the major
contributors, Augustine Cheung, did not make for
the meeting due to his business trip.
Several other members from
Westinghouse management team, Lynnann Reid,
Manager of employee communications and community
relations, Tracey Rapali, Sr. Communications
Specialist of employee communications and
community relations, and Linda Kendro, Executive
administrator of employee communications and
community relations, also attended the meeting
and provided great support to this event.
Lastly, Ms. Tracey Rapali, a key
person in coordinating with this donation,
accepted PCS invitation to be a member in the
upcoming RASC Committee to oversee the
fundraising process and disposition.
The RASC fundraising activity has
reached out and received great support from many
local communities. As of June 6,
PCS has received a total of $77,157.64 donation for
RASC.
