The
First RASC Committee Meeting Summary on June 7,
2008
The first
Rebuild-A-School Campaign (RASC) Committee
meeting was held on
June 7, 2008 from
noon
to 3 pm
at ‘Little Asia Restaurant’ in
Oakland. Nine of
ten committee members attended the meeting, and
made several important decisions that we like to
share with the public. Hong Tao and Frank
Li were elected to coordinate the fund raise as
the chair and vice chair, respectively.
Other members have been involved in various
initiatives vital to the success of this
campaign.
After an detailed
update of the fund raising progress by the
representatives from Pittsburgh Chinese School
(PCS) and those from three other organizations,
the committee decided to further investigate the
following four organizations for fund transfer
after discussing total of ten organizations.
The major criteria for their selection are the
track record for delivery, financial
transparency, naming right and responsiveness to
donor inquiries.

2) China Youth
Development Foundation (http://jiuzai.cydf.org.cn)
(based in China);
3) American Chinese
Culture and Education Foundation (http://www.accef.net)
(based in
USA);
4) Shinshin
Educational Foundation (http://www.shinshinfoundation.org/)
(based in
USA).
A final decision is
expected to be reached at the next RASC
committee meeting in two weeks by majority
voting. All money raised by June 30, 2008
will be transferred to a chosen organization for
school building by a targeted date of July 15,
2008. A brief report and the copy of fund
transfer receipt will be posted on PCS website.
In addition, Gaoying
Bolinger and Frank Li summarized various ongoing
and future outreaching activities in local
communities and the media to promote RASC.
