7/12/2008: Westinghouse Electric Company makes
a very generous donation to RASC to help funding
"rebuild a school". RASC
committee has finalized the rebuilding school with the
help of China Children and Teenagers' Foundation (CCTF).
The school is an elementary school located at Lizhou district of Guangyuan city
in SichuanProvince.
The rebuilt school will be named "Pittsburgh Chunlei
Elementary
School" (匹兹堡春蕾学校).
The committee is working with CCTF on legal documents.
Details will be followed.

A 8.0-magnitude quake
jolted Wenchuan area, southwestern Sichuan Province, China on May 12. The death toll has
reached 69,016, with 368,545 injured and 18,830
missing as of Sunday, June 1, 2008. Over
45.5 million people were affected by the quake
and the final death toll is expected to exceed
80,000. Many schools were destroyed, trapping
and burying hundreds of students inside
collapsed school buildings. The loss of
many children in the collapsed school buildings
is perhaps the most striking and devastating of
all. The Pittsburgh Chinese School (PCS)
initiated the Rebuild-A-School Campaign (RASC)
in
Pittsburgh
metropolitan area for rebuilding a stronger and
safer school.

6/6/2008: Fund raised for immediate earthquake relief organized by CAST-P
and PCS was transferred to China Red Cross. click here for a final report.
6/5/2008: PCS receives a total of $20,195 donation from employees of Westinghouse Electric
Company for RASC.
6/1/2008: Fund drive for immediate earthquake relief organized by CAST-P
and PCS ended on May. 31. Total amount of $13,166.00 was raised. The fund will
be sent to China Red Cross as previous announced.
5/29/2008: Principal, Ms. Gaoying Bolinger, was interviewed by
Channel 11 (PCNC) Night Talk host Mr. Mike Pintek on RASC.
